We require a deposit of $200 to reserve a puppy. In the past we have accepted smaller deposits, but this no longer seems sufficient to screen out the "impulse buyers" and others who are not serious about taking on the responsibility of a new golden. We want our pups to go to homes where they will truly be loved and cared for, not regretted. In the past, a smaller deposit was sufficient for this, but this year we have had several people place a deposit, only to "change their mind" as the date for picking up their puppy approached - some people are quick to say they want a puppy, but just as quick to forfeit the deposit if they have second thoughts. It is our hope that anyone willing to pay a larger deposit will be more likely to give serious consideration to their purchase beforehand.
Yes, up to seven deposits so as not to "oversell" the litter. Most of our puppies are sold before they are born, so placing a deposit is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Do you accept more than one deposit for the same puppy?
This is known as a "Backup Deposit." We only accept such deposits if we have good reason to believe that the original purchaser is not going to honor his agreement to pick up the puppy. In such a rare case, we may accept a backup deposit from another interested buyer to secure the puppy. Backup deposits are fully refundable if the original buyer does take delivery before his pickup deadline.
In most cases, no. Placing a deposit enters both you and us into a binding contract, and any monies paid are NON-REFUNDABLE unless the puppy dies prior to pickup, or if illness or defect manifests itself to us before pickup. To our knowledge, your puppy will be healthy and free of congenital defects. If any such defects manifest themselves before the puppy is picked up we will disclose these to you, and you will have the option of terminating the sale and will be entitled to a full refund. For a fee of $75.00, we will supply a Health Certificate issued by our veterinarian (required for air travel). We adhere to this policy for two reasons: First, we want our pups to go to good homes, where they are truly wanted and loved (see "How Much Deposit Do You Require", above). Second, we invest a lot of time and money into advertising our pups on the internet. Once we receive a deposit, we mark that pup "sold" and turn away other potential buyers. This means many lost sales if we do not hold people to their purchase agreement. Please Click Here to see a copy of our current Purchase Agreement.
When you place a deposit, we will set a date that is convenient for you to pick up the puppy or have it shipped. We will generally agree to keep the puppy up to 12 weeks of age at no extra charge. Buyers who do not meet their obligation to pick up their puppy are subject to forfeiture of all monies paid, and the puppy may be resold to another buyer. However, if unforeseen circumstances make it difficult for you to pick up your pup on time, we will work with you as much as possible. If we do, you may be responsible for additional fees, such as boarding, veterinary care, etc. This restriction is in place to prevent buyers from leaving their pups with us form an indefinite period.
Yes! All our puppies are fully guaranteed against inherited genetic defects, such as CHD. For an additional fee, we will have our veterinarian issue a Health Certificate for your puppy to certify its health at the time of delivery (required for air travel); in lieu of a health certificate, we will guarantee its health against contagious diseases for 48 hours after delivery, to give you time to have it examined by your veterinarian if you desire. Complete details of our health guarantee are provided in writing in our purchase agreement. For more information, please email us.
